The Story of My New Album
This photo was taken on 11 May 2018 at Bailouni’s studio. At that point, I had finished recording most of the tracks on my upcoming album, and most of them were sad songs. I love those songs, they’re some of my most vulnerable and some of the songs I’m most proud of. However, I felt that I still didn’t have a hit on my hands.
I had heard Bailouni’s work prior to meeting him at an event in Abu Dhabi when I was performing with Qattana. I was a fan, but it wasn’t until I read an interview of his online that I decided to work with him. He said so many things that I agreed with him on. I felt like this was someone who was open, self aware, and had great taste in music. I reached out to him to work with him and, a month or so later, I was in his studio in Dubai working on more music.
That week we worked together, we knocked out 4 new songs - 2 that I had pre-written and 2 that I wrote while I was in Dubai. Bailouni renewed my love for songwriting and music production. It was so much fun and I felt like I made a new friend.
We got together again in August 2018 and mixed and mastered the album. By that time, I was confident about the songs and had several strong contenders for singles, but none that felt right for a first single. In November 2019, I went back to Dubai to Bailouni’s studio and we wrote ‘Out of Time’ together. I was supposed to go back to Dubai to finish the song in early 2020, but we all know how that turned out.
Fast forward to September of this year, I decided that it was time to put out this album, so I reached out to Bailouni and we worked on ‘Out of Time’ remotely for a few weeks. If you saw the last Reel I uploaded, you would know how excited I was when I heard the first mix! I love this song!
The time is finally here. I’m so happy to share my new music with everyone - it’s been a long time coming.
