I performed at the American Women’s League’s annual breast cancer awareness event on Monday night with my buddies Qattana and Lester. It was such an honor to be invited to sing in front of the US Ambassador, renowned doctors, cancer survivors, cancer patients, and their loved ones.
I was so touched by all the stories I heard, and I remembered my step dad and my friend Laura who lost their battles with cancer. I dedicated an acoustic version of ‘Music Therapy’ to Laura as that was her favorite song.
At the end of the night, I was given a pink fighting glove that was signed by the women from the AWL and the US Ambassador. I’m going to hang it up proudly! Oh, and I got to meet comedian Ahmed Ahmed who was co-hosting! He’s such a nice guy.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event, the organizers (Activate), the AWL, and everyone who sang with me. You all made my evening so special.
